Davis, Linda M. “Social Media Marketing: An Hour a Day.” Technical Communication 57.1, 2010: 110–110. Web. 3 Mar. 2016.
Since the rise of the internet and social media, businesses looking to take advantage of social media marketing must now take a whole new route, involving building an online social reputation or presence, rather than simply aiming ads at consumers. This book gives tips on how you can reach a larger population of potential customers and create advertisements to snare them, using a 3 month long, day-by-day plan. This is relevant to me because I can use the plan in the book to help me network and market BearTrap Dsgn. around Bozeman and then expand, hopefully, all around Montana.
Anton, James J., and Dennis A. Yao. “Start-ups, Spin-offs, and Internal Projects.” Journal of Law, Economics, & Organization 11.2, 1995: 362–378. Web. 3 Mar. 2016.
In this article, it examines the incentives faced by an employer and an employee when the employee privately discovers a significant invention. It goes to discuss the types of incentives faced by both parties in common and unique situations, and then gives tips on how to reach the desired outcome of the individual parties. This is helpful for me, as it will help with guide me on how to exploit a market niche so that BearTrap Dsgn. boosts ahead relatively quickly and is able to gain influence on the web.
Balakrishnan, P. V. (Sundar) and Jacob, Varghese S. “Genetic Algorithms for Product Design”. Management Science 42.8, 1996: 1105– 1117. Web. 3 Mar. 2016.
In the paper, it focuses on how GA can be applied to the product design problems, determining the comparative performance of GA vis-a-vis the dynamic programming heuristic in generating solutions to the product design problems, the sensitivity of the GA solutions to variations in parameter choices, and generalizing the results of the dynamic programming heuristic to product designs involving attributes with varying number of levels. This is helpful to me as I will be able to use a very simplified version of GA to help decide which hat and t-shirt designs will be enjoyed most by potential customers. Along with this, I can also run advertisements through this approach to narrow down choices.
Simchi-Levi, David. “Delivering Customer Value Through Flexible Operations.” Operation Rules. MIT Press, 2010. Web. 3 Mar. 2016.
What matters most, in today’s customer-driven markets, is not the product or service themselves but rather the customer’s perceived value of the entire relationship with a company. In the last few years, many companies have emphasized both the quality of their products and services and customer satisfaction, which involves understanding current customers, their use of the products, and their impression of the company’s service. This is relevant to me as it taught me a lot about how to brand your company so that is has an extensive and positive reputation that entices customers to want to buy from your company.
“The Ultimate Guide to Marketing Your Startup Online Without a Big Budget”. KickoffLabs. N.p., n.d. Web. 3 Mar. 2016.
This website gave extensive help on how to grow your business using many methods of networking, branding, and advertising. It shared helpful websites I can actually use when creating portions of our startup. I will be using much of the advice from this website in the next few weeks to reach out to people in our community and online to gain supporters. This will possibly be one of the most helpful sources I have, as it literally gives me everything I need to do to grow BearTrap Dsgn. and reach a larger target audience over time. I will be able to use information from this website in conjunction with information from other marketing-focused sources to add a large portion of topics into my marketing section.
Klimisch, Jenny. “How to Create an Effective Small Business Advertisement.” VerticalResponse. N.p., 21 Aug. 2013. Web. 8 Mar. 2016.
This web page gave a list of things that every small business advertisement should include. Most of the stuff was common sense, but I did learn a few helpful tips on how to make them available in print and online and how to optimize the ad for both styles. I learned a lot of my knowledge on how to choose a typeface (font) and pair it with a successful color scheme in my graphic design education (Graphic Design I & II at BHS), but I was still able to gain knowledge about these topics from the web page. I will be able to include this info in my “Advertising” subsection of the Marketing section.
Simon, Ruth, and Barr, Caelainn. "Endangered Species: The Young Entrepreneur." Wall Street Journal 3 Jan. 2015, east. ed.: A1+. SIRS Issues Researcher. Web. 8 Mar. 2016.
This article displays data to support the claim that young entrepreneurs are decreasing year by year. It gives fascinating statistics, many of which will be very useful in my summary. Along with stats, it tells the story of many entrepreneurs that had to turn away from their start-up, as the economy was too bad to support themselves solely on their company. This will fit perfectly into my intro and/or conclusion, stating either statistics or quotes or background info on how being a successful entrepreneur is becoming substantially more difficult in this day and age.
